When you think of a beautiful smile, you probably think of a mouth full of straight, pearly-white, evenly sized teeth. Well, most people aren’t born with a beautiful smile. Cosmetic dentistry has allowed us to make sure, through a number of different procedures that you can have the confidence-boosting grin you’ve always wanted. We can use a whitening treatment to remove stains from your teeth. We can use crowns to encircle and protect damaged teeth while enhancing their shape or size. We can use dental bonding to correct chips, stains, and other irregularities. The opportunities are almost endless. However, Dr. Kathleen Carson of Integrative Dental Arts wants you to know that a single procedure can accomplish many of the previously listed treatment objectives… changing everything about the appearance of your teeth when you smile. That procedure? Veneers.
Porcelain veneers have become increasingly popular
We believe the reason for that is because veneers can change nearly any aspect of your smile that makes you unhappy. Able to be placed on a single tooth or cover all the visible teeth in your mouth, veneers are installed across the front of your teeth, thus altering the color, shape, size, and alignment of your teeth. Veneers also can correct the appearance of crooked teeth without the need for braces or Invisalign. So, this means that you can get the perfect smile that you want in as little as a couple of weeks!
The benefits of dental porcelain
At Integrative Dental Arts, our dental veneers are made of thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to each tooth. They are shaped, sized, and colored based on your aesthetic desires and the shape and color of your other healthy teeth. Modern veneers are extremely thin, so they won’t look bulky on your teeth. Dental porcelain is stain-resistant and reflects light in the same way that real tooth enamel does. Once installed, porcelain veneers are easy to care for—just normal brushing and flossing will do. Outside of individual replacement after years of wear and tear, this is the simplest way to obtain the smile you’ve always wanted.
Dr. Kathleen Carson does like to inform anyone interested in porcelain veneers that there are some things to consider before having the procedure. Our veneers are bonded to your teeth. That means that you can never go back to your natural smile, but once you see your results, you wouldn’t want to anyway. With proper care, veneers can last up to a decade or longer, but you must maintain good brushing and flossing habits, and twice-yearly checkups at the dentist. Also because of the high quality of dental veneers and the professional expertise of our cosmetic dentists, receiving veneers can be expensive, but we believe the long-term value of the procedure is worth it because veneers can accomplish multiple goals at once, without having to make repeat appointments to fix the same small cosmetic issues repeatedly.
What can you expect from a veneer procedure?
Receiving veneers at our Agoura Hills office entails two separate appointments. At your initial visit, the process starts with removing a small portion of your tooth structure. This helps the veneer to make a smooth bond against the front of your tooth. After taking dental impressions to create a model for your veneer, we send them off to our dental lab, where the veneers are fabricated. Last, we will attach a temporary veneer or set of veneers until your customized veneers are ready to be installed. At your next appointment, you will also be able to see the porcelain veneers before they are attached to make sure you are satisfied. The next thing you know, your dream smile will be beaming back at you when you look in the mirror.
We’re happy to meet with any interested patient to discuss our veneers procedures. We also offer Lumineers, a state-of-the-art advanced type of veneer that is extremely thin and requires little to no tooth preparation before being installed. To learn more about Lumineers or our metal-free porcelain veneers, schedule a consultation with Dr. Carson today. This is the first step in achieving your dream of a perfect smile. Consider bringing images of the smile you’d like to have or at least know what dental issues you want to fix. Together we can help you decide on the correct shape, size, and coloration to achieve the look you’re trying to obtain.
